Kris, welcome to Goalbusters.

KRIS
I'm pumped to be here.

ROBIN
I'm excited to have you here too. Whereabouts are you, Kris?

KRIS
I'm in Canada.

ROBIN
Fantastic. And it's, early afternoon for you and late evening for me. I think we established.

KRIS
Yeah. Here we go.

ROBIN
Here we go. So shall we crack on with the questions then?

KRIS
Sure.

ROBIN
Okay. I just need to get the clock to appear on the screen.

And there it goes. Kris, could you tell me please, who is your ideal client?

02:10 KRIS – Ideal Client
We work best with entrepreneurs, coaches, consultants, entrepreneurs, or founders who have been in business at least five, ten years, and what happens is they look good on paper. They may have a podcast or book or accolades or they're doing well in their business, but they're working too many hours for where they are at this point in their journey.

ROBIN
Excellent. And that really segues nicely into my second question, which is what is the problem you solve? But I imagine you solve several problems.

02:35 KRIS – Problem Solved
Yeah. What we do is we help you with your team, your time, and your toolkits, and this whole idea of if you hear yourself saying, well, once I get past this next thing, ding, ding, ding, that is a warning bell. Right? There will always be next thing in business.

It's kind of like having a car that could only drive in good weather. So when you hear yourself saying, Once I get past this next thing, things will be different, that you need to pay attention to. So what we do is we help you get time back and we help you find higher onboard, amazing virtual assistants so that they can lean into and set up your streamlined processes with our signature super toolkits. So as my clients say, you can get twenty hours back a week within the first month of working with us.

ROBIN
Oh my goodness.

That sounds like my mantra every single day. Once I get past this, things will be different. Yeah. Absolutely.

Very common experience and very valuable service, I can tell. So what is one valuable free action, Chris, that the audience could implement that would help them solve that problem?

03:30 KRIS – Valuable Free Action (VFA)
You know, in action, we're short on time here as you know. It's very concise. So what I would say to you more importantly than action is a concept. And the concept is most of the entrepreneurs and coaches, consultants I deal with, they've been doing this so long, and their existing formula is when they need more time or they've got too much on their plate, they go they work longer, and they try to go faster.
Right? And so what I need you to understand is this is not about you thinking, oh, I just need more discipline. I just need to be more organized. The setup is not there to support you.

You're swimming against the current kinda deal. So it's not about you or your perceived character flaws. So if you understand that, that will change the game for you.

ROBIN
Okay. Brilliant. That's a very interesting insight. Thank you very much indeed. So now that we have a better understanding of what you do, Kris, let's dive into GoalBusting, focusing on how to maximize productive time to achieve business goals.

Could you just share any tips or advice for someone looking to improve their product activity habits in addition to what you've already shared with us, which has been great so far?

04:40 KRIS – Valuable Productive Action (VPA)
Well, first of all, goals. Everybody's got these whiteboards and all these ambitions or big projects and goals. And the thing I look at that is, you know, we know goal, the difference between a wish and a goal is a deadline. But it still doesn't work because you don't have any capability of executing that.

So how does that goal work? Right? So what I want you to understand at the very basis, and this is something it's one-o-one we teach in the first fifteen minutes, is that your calendar is your time bank account. So like things come out of your bank account every month, what happens is people say to me, oh, Kris, I do that every day.

I don't need to put it on my calendar. You know, I know that. I'm like, that's like your car payment coming out of your bank every month. You don't say, ah, that comes out every month. I don't have to count that.

So what happens is because people don't know how to utilize their calendar in the most basic efficiency of a productivity tool, and I don't mean all this repurposing stuff and diet stuff and all these complicated programs. Just understanding that it's like your time bank account. So what that means is when you stumble into the day and you're just putting appointments like, oh, I'm meeting with Robin, and that's on the calendar, but my own work isn't on the calendar, what happens is you might think you have eight hours when in fact you have five.

So understanding that your calendar is your time bank account, that in itself will really give you clarity.

ROBIN
Oh, excellent. Thank you. That is very, very insightful comment there and something that I'm definitely gonna enjoy relistening to and working through and making sure that that is something that I'm doing as well. Thank you. So finally, what should I have asked you today, Chris, that I didn't? And your answer, please.

06:10 KRIS – Bonus Material
Well, I would never questions, you know, a great host. So I wouldn't say, you know, that's the issue. What I would say is, what I want people to understand is we have this twelve point hiring process for bringing on virtual assistants, and we live in a magical time. You can have an amazing talent working with you for five, six US dollars an hour.

And what happens is when we find, hire, and board them, they go into our leadership program, which is very different than agencies. We're not an agency. By that, I mean we don't take any of their pay. An agency just signs someone to you, and they don't know anything about your business.

We help you with a virtual assistant so that we can get to the real work and put the other things in play that you will need some help for. So I think it's really important for people to understand that, you know, you when you need help or when you're hungry is not the time you plant a garden. Right? So when you start running around and you're all stressed out and you think in between that chaos, I'll go out and find somebody to help me, great.

That's what a lot of my clients do, and they burn through three, five, whatever, a bunch of VAs before they realize, oh, I don't know what I'm doing because this isn't my thing that I do. Right? So I think it's really important just to shine a light on that again. Again, it's not a character flaw. It's the setup.

ROBIN
Excellent. And you've raised a very interesting point, which a virtual assistant, of course, is a is a brilliant tool for getting more productive. And a lot of entrepreneurs, myself included, struggle, you know, initially to get your head around the idea. Actually, I need to delegate. I need to pass this on to somebody else.

KRIS
Well, I'm gonna pick on you a little bit because I don't like the word delegate because delegate is a lateral move. The work still has to come through you, and that's where people get you know, it consumes them. I don't have time to do all that, and you think it's just, you know, by the time I set it up, it's easier to do it myself. That's just because again, you're not set up correctly. Right? So I would say to you that, yes, a team to me is a philosophy, not a number. You could have a team of one, and this will allow you to have a business that supports your life instead of consuming it.

ROBIN
Yeah. Absolutely. And pick on me as much as you like. That's absolutely fine. In fact, I use the word delegate deliberately because it's a word that most people understand.

But I always think about it in terms of leveraging where you don't give up your responsibility for what you're doing. You get somebody else to do it, but you still are on the case. You're still making sure that it happens.

KRIS
Well, there's a lot of pre and post work to everything that anyone does, and it gets swallowed up into your work. And I'm here to argue that, you know, even if you're a surgeon, you walk in, you don't wanna be fussing with the tools, aligning them up and checking everything, getting your gloves out. You go in in your zone of genius and everything's prepared for you. So what I would say to you is you're wasting a lot of time on the pre and post admin work when you could be moving the needle on your real work and what your clients pay you for.

ROBIN
Yeah. Excellent. Thank you. And look at that. We did that in exactly seven minutes as well.

That's fantastic. Thank you so much. So critical question, really critical question, Kris, is how can people find you? And also a little a little bit of a cheeky question.

But is there a, like, a Valuable Free Resource that they could get from you when they find you on your website, for example?

09:30 KRIS – Valuable Free Resource (VFR)
So what I did is I put something really special in there for you, Robin. If you go to freegiftfromkris.com There's a bunch of goodies in there and one being the audio version of my book. So we're not leaving it up too long, so you wanna get it in, get in there, grab it, and get out. And, yeah, if you check it out, freegiftfromkris.com, there's a few things, but I think you'll really like the audio version of my book.

ROBIN
Oh, that's awesome. Thank you so much. I'm gonna go and get that straight away and I hope that it's still up for people when they get when they listen to this. But no. That's wonderful. Thank you. Very generous indeed.

And a brilliant idea. Thank you so much, Kris. Kris, it's been an honor. And, I didn't mention this at the start, but we had quite a few technical issues getting this to happen today. And you moved mountains to make sure that you were available to do this when you really weren't. So I want to thank you extra specially today. Thank you so much for doing this.

KRIS
That's really Thank you for trusting me with your audience, and the show must go on.

So here I am.

ROBIN
Thank you, and bye bye.
