Holly, welcome to GoalBusters!

HOLLY
Yeah. Thanks for having me. Glad to be here.

ROBIN
I'm glad you're here too. You're very welcome. Whereabouts in the world are you, Holly?

HOLLY
So I'm in the United States. I'm in North Carolina, Asheville, North Carolina, which is in the mountains of kind of the western North Carolina area.

ROBIN
Oh, beautiful. I know Caroline well, but not North Carolina. That sounds like a lovely part of the world. Have you got the mountain—up in the mountains?

HOLLY
Beautiful. Yes. It's beautiful.

ROBIN
Fantastic. Alright. Shall we—shall we do the questions?

HOLLY
Right.

ROBIN
Let's get the clock up.

And there it goes. Holly, could you tell me please, who is your ideal client?

02:12 HOLLY – Ideal Client
Yeah. So largely, I'm working with small business owners and even some solopreneurs who are honestly just trying to make sense of their marketing. Right? These are folks who are feeling a little bit overwhelmed by all of the marketing options. Now we have AI tools that have entered the mix. And so folks are just not really sure what to do next, how to communicate what they do, how to really make sense of their marketing. So those are the folks that I love to come in and help.

ROBIN
Oh, I see. Lots of them. You know, it's me leaning in there too. Yeah. There's an awful lot of them.

So—so okay. You've—you've alluded, obviously you are—I anticipated you would in that question too—what the problems are that you solve. Perhaps you could expand on that, please.

02:55 HOLLY – Problem Solved
Sure. So a lot of it is really eliminating some of that marketing overwhelm, really helping folks create messaging campaigns and marketing materials so they can really communicate with their ideal customers and clients. Right? I think so much of it is helping folks really build out some of those foundational materials so that they know which direction to go. Right? And where to put their marketing efforts that are really gonna help them get those results.

ROBIN
Perfect. And, again, succinctly said, but that is a huge, huge thing that you're talking about there. Absolutely massive.

But thank you for sharing that with us. So what is one valuable free action that the audience can implement that will help them to solve these problems?

03:39 HOLLY – Valuable Free Action
So I think it's a couple things. One, it's—it's kind of stopping what I sometimes refer to as the marketing spaghetti approach, right? Where we just continue to kinda throw things at the wall and see what sticks. And so taking a step back from that and going, okay. How are we gonna build out some really foundational marketing pieces? Right? And that's gonna start with a really clear message, right, that we need to be able to communicate to people what we do. That's gonna be our website, some email campaigns.

I find that folks sometimes just really get caught up in all the different options. Right? It's like, do I put money on social media? Do I do a lot of SEO? And they're just—they don't really know what to do, and they're just trying all these different things. They're wasting a lot of time and money and energy. So if we can kinda bring it back to the basics, right, and figuring out the message, really getting your website solid, getting the words together that we need to say, that is really gonna help you stay focused and really figure out, okay, how should I direct my efforts so that I'm not just throwing stuff all over the place and potentially wasting a lot of money in the process?

ROBIN
Yeah. Brilliant. Build a solid foundation. And then especially in the age of SEO is changing by the hour—literally by the hour.

HOLLY
Yes.

ROBIN
Yeah. Yeah. And all massive announcements.

HOLLY
Media, you know, AI. Like, there's just a lot to keep up with. And so sometimes it's like, alright.

Let's just kinda bring it back to the basics—

ROBIN
Yes.

HOLLY
—and then go from there.

ROBIN:
Yes. Otherwise, that way madness lies. I mean, we've had announcements just this week that Google is massively transforming its platform, and—and I'm not surprised really.

How do you respond to that with SEO? Well, the answer is: go back to the basics. That's what you're talking about. Brilliant. Thank you. So now that we have a better understanding of what you do, let's dive into GoalBusting briefly, focusing on how to maximize productive time to achieve business goals. So, Holly, could you share any tips or advice for someone looking to improve their productivity habits, please?

05:40 HOLLY - Valuable Productive Action
Yeah. That—well, that's the million-dollar question. Right?

But I know for me personally, at the end of last year, I did invest in a virtual assistant. And so that has been really helpful, just having somebody who can take some of those tasks, and sort of some of the administrative things off of my plate so that I can focus on other work that's really gonna help grow my business.

And so that's been hugely helpful. I also try to be sort of realistic in what I feel like I can accomplish in a day. Right? So making my list sort of at the beginning of the week, which might have, you know, twenty things on it. Right? But knowing that I can only get maybe three of those done in a day. Right? And so not sort of overcommitting.

Because then we get to the end of the—end of the day and we're frustrated because we didn't get a lot of stuff done.

So trying to be realistic. And then I think, also not focusing so much on what a lot of people refer to as time blocking, but more that energy blocking. Right? So sort of knowing how you like to work and how—when you're most productive.

So I actually kind of rearranged my calendar a little bit to reflect how I like to work, and when I wanna have meetings and when I wanna do writing and things like that.

ROBIN
Yes. Like the famous, “Don't try and do anything too energetic right after a high carbohydrate lunch break.”

HOLLY
Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Yeah. Like, I—I'm a morning person. So I like to do a lot of my, like, deep work or writing or things like that in the morning and then do more of my meetings and things in the afternoon.

ROBIN
I think I am too. And if you divide the day up into three, I think I would—I really wish I could have three mornings. Unfortunately, it doesn't work.

HOLLY
Me too. Yeah. Me too.

ROBIN
Alright. So I'm taking up too much of your time with my waffle. So let's move on. And just—I wanted to ask you: what should I have asked you today, Holly, that I didn't, and also your answer, please?

07: 40 HOLLY – Bonus Material
Yeah. Well, one thing that we didn't talk about was you mentioned the Unreasonable Hospitality piece, and that's a certification that I have that's based on a book called Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. And so it's really helping organizations identify different customer touchpoints and how they can really start to elevate those and transform their customer experience. And I think that that is a piece that is going to become even more important, particularly now that we do have so many AI tools and—and things at our disposal, that—that human connection, customer service, customer experience is really gonna be—it’s always been important, but now I feel like it's gonna be even more important and it's really gonna be an opportunity for businesses to stand out and let that really be their competitive edge in the marketplace. So when we pair that with solid marketing foundation, I think you can really have some big success.

ROBIN
Yes. Because as I found myself saying quite a lot recently, human connection and AI is an oxymoron. That’s the one thing that AI is never going to be able to replicate.

Perfect. Thank you. That sounds very interesting. I should have to look that book up as well.

And perhaps I might even find out more about it if I go to your website, which is going to be my final question now that we've reached our seven minutes. Thank you very much for being punctilious on that. So how can people reach you, Holly? And also is there like a valuable free resource they can get from you?

09:25 HOLLY – Valuable Free Resource
Yeah. Absolutely. So I'd love for folks to go to my website, which is simply fisher-creative.com And that's where you can find actually a free marketing assessment that you can take—several questions that you can answer—and that will spit back to you some really good things for you to think about in kind of building that marketing foundation that I was talking about earlier. So that's a great place for people to go. And of course, they can find me on all of the, you know, various social media channels where I share a lot of resources and tips and things related to marketing as well.

ROBIN
Excellent. Thank you very much. Oh, of course, I could just ask your virtual assistant. Oh wait. They don't actually know who your virtual assistant is.

HOLLY
That's right.

ROBIN
That's—that's perfect. I'm sure you’ll—they'll have an encounter with your virtual assistant the minute they start asking for things on your website.

Alright. So, Holly, that's been brilliant. Very interesting indeed. You're absolutely brilliantly placed in an—in an area of the market where a lot of people need support, so that’s fantastic. It's great meeting you today. Holly Fisher, thank you so much.

HOLLY
Thanks for having me.

ROBIN
You're very welcome. And thank you. So we've reached the end of our podcast, so this is just for me to say—remember, keep GoalBusting and make your future self proud. Bye bye.

Robin J. Emdon is the creator of GetResultsology®, The Science of Getting Stuff Done!, a practical system that helps self-starters overcome procrastination, build momentum and follow through on what matters.

Known as The Procrastination Slayer and The Momentum Architect, Robin supports solopreneurs, creatives and no-boss professionals across the full spectrum of productivity challenges. Whether someone is stuck at the starting line or simply wants to move faster with more focus, his work helps turn scattered effort into consistent progress.

Robin began his career in his family’s retail business before training as a life coach in California in 2001. Although he has always been based in South Devon, coaching took a back seat while he raised his two sons as a full-time single dad. The desire to help others never went away. In 2019, a personal turning point revealed just how much procrastination had been limiting his own progress. It had taken him ten years to complete a home-based degree designed to take six.

When the lockdowns began in 2020, Robin immersed himself in the best thinking in neuroscience, behavioural psychology and productivity. From that deep learning, he developed GetResultsology®, built around what he now calls his momentum formula:

Do it today – Profit tomorrow: Repeat!

The formula is easy to remember but harder to live by without the right structure. GetResultsology® helps close that gap by turning daily effort into consistent, meaningful progress that leads to profit, growth and life-changing outcomes.

Still based in South Devon, on England’s scenic southwest coast, Robin now works with clients around the world. From his quiet corner by the sea, he helps people stay focused, take action and get results that truly move the needle.
