Agatha, welcome.
AGATHA
Thank you. Thank you so much for having me.
ROBIN
You're very welcome indeed. And whereabouts are you in the world? I know you told me it's morning, but I didn't ask you whereabouts.
AGATHA
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia, so in the US.
ROBIN
I'm in Torquay in South Devon, and it's afternoon for me. So, if you wanna know what happens between the morning and the afternoon, just ask me at the end of the call, and I'll tell you what's gonna happen.
I always think that's great with time differences. You can always tell what's gonna happen before everybody else.
Let's get straight on then with our five questions in seven minutes.
02:00 ROBIN Ideal Client?
So first, let's start the clock. There it goes. So, Agatha, please first tell me who is your ideal client.
AGATHA
So I work with new entrepreneurs and also aspiring entrepreneurs who are looking to launch their business and get more clarity in their marketing so they can start attracting clients. So I typically work with solopreneurs and other service based business owners like myself.
You know, I could work with product based business owners, but I really have a passion for helping service based business owners because we're trying to make a bigger impact in the world or at least the people that I've worked with. I typically work with women, but I'm open to working with all genders. That's just, you know, who's usually drawn to me.
So, yeah, that's typically who I support, people who are in the early stages and need a little bit of help, getting clarity in their marketing.
02:50 ROBIN Problem solved?
Excellent. So you kind of alluded to it quite a lot there. What exactly is the problem that you solve? And I I always add a rider to that. Usually, you solve more than one problem. So please feel free.
AGATHA
Yeah. Definitely. So, in my experience, aspiring entrepreneurs, they are very excited to launch their business, but they don't typically have the marketing background.
So I'm drawing on my corporate experience, like you mentioned, nineteen years of working in corporate marketing.
And even for myself, it was hard to launch my business because I didn't have that clarity. I didn't know exactly what I was gonna do and how I wanted my business to look. So that's what I'm helping people do is get really clear on their overall vision for their business, how they're gonna work with people, who they're gonna work with, what offers they're gonna create. All of that needs to be done before you start marketing. And what I see happening out there is people try to launch before they've even thought about those things on a deeper level. They may have some idea, but they need to get really clear on those things in order to be able to launch, and market confidently. Because if you don't know what you're trying to do, then you can't speak to other people and get them excited.
04:05 ROBIN
Thank you. And that is also a very clear answer, so thank you for that. That's brilliant. Thank you. So what is, one valuable free action that our audience can implement that might help them solve that problem?
AGATHA - Valuable Free Action (VFA)
Yeah. And I think for this one, if the good news is it's free. It's you want to basically, get really clear, like I mentioned, on what you're trying to create before you start marketing. And I kind of went over that a little bit, but, basically, your overall vision for your business, what you want it to look like, who you wanna work with, what your offers are, all of that is foundational before you start marketing.
And another piece is you want to align your marketing strategy or your marketing channels with your personality and your strengths. So for example, I am an ambivert storyteller. So I am in between an introvert and an extrovert. So some days, I wanna be, not on camera, and other days, I'm fine doing that.
So that's the ambivert part of me. And then as a storyteller, I like blogging and podcasting. Those are my marketing channels that align with what I'm already naturally good at. So if you align your, marketing channel, your marketing strategy with what you're already good at, then you're much more likely to be successful.
ROBIN
Brilliant. Thank you. I hate being on camera. No matter what movie I mean, I always hate being on camera, but I get I totally relate to what you're saying.
It makes a lot of sense. Thank you. So and and also, the whole context you've answered, it's worth listening to, and rewinding and listening to what you said because there's a lot of great tips in there. Thank you so much.
So now we know a little bit more about what you do, let's talk about goal busting, which means how do you make the best use of your productive time, Agatha, to achieve your own business goals? So can you share any tips or advice for someone looking to improve their productivity habits?
05:50 AGATHA - Valuable Production Action (VFA)
Yeah. And this one is very relevant to new business owners because we tend to, do too much rather than be, very mindful and intentional about what we're working on in our business. So every time you think about working on something, a task, a project, whatever, in your business, you have to ask yourself, is this gonna actually get me closer to my goal? Is this gonna get me to my end goal?
If it's not, you have to be strong enough to drop it or to say no to a business opportunity that doesn't really align. And I did that. Like, when you reached out to me to be on this show, I decided and I had to go through, okay. Is this gonna get me closer to my goal?
Yes. Okay. I can do this. If it didn't, then I would have had to say no.
ROBIN
Phew. I'm so glad you came to obviously the right conclusion, but it's very sensible. The power of no is really important.
I completely agree with you. Everything you say there is absolutely right, and saying no is a very powerful tool indeed. Thank you. It's not something that people that comes up very often when people talk about productivity, so, you know, but I've had to learn to say it a lot in my life, still do every single day, and as do you, I'm sure. So finally, I always like this question because it's I I we can have fun with this. So what should I have asked you today that I didn't and your answer, please, obviously, I got that.
07:10 AGATHA
Yeah. So this one's kind of adjacent to productivity, but it's around procrastination. So what I find, when women work with me, they sometimes blame themselves and call themselves lazy or, like, there's something that goes on when they're they start procrastinating towards something that they actually want to move forward with or a goal they have or a project they wanna do in their business. But, usually, what's happening is there's something deeper going on.
There's a reason why you're procrastinating towards a specific goal or something in your business. And, usually, that has to do with, what you're actually getting now that you wouldn't get if you moved forward on that goal. And I know that sounds kind of weird, but basically, like, if this is happening to you, if you're procrastinating, you wanna ask yourself, what am I actually getting now that I wouldn't if I moved forward with that? And that could be, like, a sense of comfort or a sense of security or safety, because sometimes our goals stretch us and they're scary.
And maybe it's reaching out to somebody and feeling, oh, crap. I might get rejected. Like, that's usually what's stopping you. It's not that you're lazy.
It's not that, you're unmotivated. It's there's some fear going on or there's you're thinking that you're gonna lose something by moving forward with that goal when in reality, you probably won't. So that's just a little extra tip around procrastination.
ROBIN
Yeah. Perfect. I completely agree with you. We only procrastinate because there's a payoff.
AGATHA
Yeah.
ROBIN
There's a reward.
It's irrational.
It really upsets you the day after when you or even the ten minutes after when you realize you've just lost a morning or an hour or a day's work, but there's a payoff.
And because the counterpoint is that I guess is that you would work with someone like yourself and myself, but I'm talking about you today, is to work on, well… how can you make actually being productive a lot more rewarding?
AGATHA
Mhmm. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely.
ROBIN
Exactly. It counters the procrastination.
So, Agatha, how can people listening or watching this get in touch with you? What was, actually, a better question is not just how can they get in touch with you. I know you've got a website. Do you have, like, on your website, like, a what we call a Valuable Free Resource (VFR), something that they could immediately get their hands on from you, and also by virtue of that fact they've done that, they'll be able to contact you.
07:10 AGATHA - Valuable Free Resource (VFR)
Of course. So I have my website, and it's AgathaBrewer.com/Quiz
That's the free resource that I talked about where you can find out what is your marketing superpower or your marketing personality. And if you take that quiz, it's about two minutes long, just a couple questions. It'll, give you your results of what are basically the best marketing channels for you. I give you three options to choose from, that are aligned with your personality and strengths, so they are more likely to work for you than other marketing channels. So that's where I would point you. And, of course, I also have a resources page where you can check out other resources and also my podcast as well, The Intentional Solopreneur.
ROBIN
Marvelous. That's absolutely brilliant. Thank you. And, for people watching this on video, the link for that will have popped up underneath us on the video, and, of course, I will include it in all the descriptions that go with the podcast so people will be able to find that and do your two minute quiz in two minutes. That's brilliant. Thank you so much. Agatha, it's been an absolute pleasure. It's been fascinating.
Lovely to hear everything that you said, and I've learned some things today, and I hope people listening and watching have too. I'm sure they will. It's all it all adds value, and you've certainly done that for us today. So thank you, Agatha, so much.
AGATHA
Thank you so much for having me. I love the format of your show.
ROBIN
Oh, you're very kind. Thank you, and bye bye.
AGATHA
Bye.
