Christine, welcome to Goalbusters!
CHRISTINE
Thank you for having me. I'm excited to be here.
ROBIN
I'm excited you are here too. I think that's brilliant. Thank you so much for agreeing to do this today. What part of the world are you in?
CHRISTINE
We're coming from all the way across the gigantic pond. I'm coming to you from Canada, really close to Canada's famous Thamp National Park.
ROBIN
Wow, yeah, quite a big pond, isn't it, that separates us? I won't set out to swim over to have a coffee with you. Might be a bit tired when I arrive. Anyway, that's me waffling on. Shall we do the questions instead?
CHRISTINE
We shall.
ROBIN
All right, I'll get the clock up on the screen.
And there it goes. Christine, could you tell me please, who is your ideal client?
02:20 CHRISTINE – Ideal Client
So our clients are service based businesses who are looking to grow consistent client growth and create revenue up to their first million dollars in business. I call them the emerging entrepreneurs.
ROBIN
The emerging entrepreneurs. Yes, we like that. Yes, absolutely. Up to a million dollars. Perfect. Brilliant. I totally understand where you're coming from with that. Very clear.
So what exactly is the problem or problems that you solve for these people?
02:50 CHRISTINE – Problem Solved
These people are going, how in the heck do I have more clients more predictably? And how do I ensure they're the right clients who will actually pay their bills and get the results through our programs and services?
ROBIN
Okay, that's also very clear. So what is one valuable free action that our audience can implement that will help them to solve that problem?
03:10 CHRISTINE – Valuable Free Action (VFA)
So the first thing I want to share is that there are only two things that will predict your revenue in the next ninety days.
Most of the things you're doing are not these two things, which means you're highly distracted by the wrong things, and you wonder why it's so hard to actually create clients. So let me tell you what to focus on at the exclusion of everything else until you have as many clients as you need to hit your revenue. Number one, your business will be built on strangers. Okay? So it's really important you get in front of more people, more ways, more often, but not all visibility is equal.
If you're visible in a room that won't afford you, doesn't want to buy it, and doesn't care about your programs, get out of that room. You've got to find the buyer. So we help people find the buyer, and that is the first piece of the puzzle.
Meeting more buyers. Track that every week. How many people are you meeting and are they buyers?
Second piece of this puzzle is it is up to you to make an offer. No money moves hands if you say, Oh, if you need it, come find me. You need to be really clear that you must lead the offer because you're scared to make the conversation, Do you want to pay me?
But the person on the other side, that buyer, wants a solution and is scared too. So we say it's really important to track how many people you're meeting that are buyers, number one.
How many offers are you making? And every business owner will have zeros on the board on occasion. But if you stay at zero, you will not solve this problem. And that means you will keep it longer than you can afford to. And that's why so many business owners go broke. Let's fix that.
ROBIN
Yeah, let's fix it. Absolutely. Completely agree with you. Very interesting. Thank you so much for sharing that with us, Christine.
So let's just move on, but only briefly, because I want to really focus on what you're doing in more detail. But now we have a better understanding of what you do, let's dive into G oalBusting, after all that is our podcast, focusing on how to maximise productive time to achieve business goals.
Could you share any tips or advice for someone looking to improve their productivity habits, please?
05:30 CHRISTINE – Valuable Productive Action (VPA)
So the first thing for sure is that you need to hear this and understand it.
Simple is what scales.
You are doing a million things because the world has bought you and sold you complexity. You're trying to figure out social media platforms, SEO, website building, learning AI and doing a million things. Stop it. The fastest path to cash is conversation. If you go back to what I just said about the two things that grow your business, I want you to find out what created your last client, do more of that, get better at it, and stop doing the million tabs that are open on your screen.
Simple is what scales. So what I tell my clients is pick one thing until you're great at it. And once you're great at it, then you add something second.
Don't try to do it all.
You're not building a business with a multi million dollars yet.
You're trying to find smaller wins. Simple.
And do less, but do it better.
ROBIN
Yeah, absolutely. And only a million tabs? Think mine, I've got about three million on my computer. Just keep increasing the RAM just to accommodate them.
And we have a saying here, I think you probably have it there too, you don't want to be a Jack of all trades and master of none. And you know, I complete what you're saying. I mean, I wasn't physically doing it because I would all blurry, but I was leaning in there and listening to every word because it was like you were speaking to me personally. And I speak from experience and I'm sure what you're saying resonates with a lot of our listeners too because there's so many shiny objects, there's so many things vying for your time.
I had an email this morning about oh you know you can do x y z to improve your video channel and I'm like… oh that sounds good. I did like two minutes of research into it. Oh, go figure it doesn't really work, but they don't want you to know that.
Or it does really work, but it's got hundreds of hours of work to make it work.
CHRISTINE
Correct. And every tactic that you hear works, or they wouldn't have success.
The question is whether you will have success. And it comes down to if you choose your lane and you get your blinders on, one, you will exhale and recognize this. It's not about more hours. It's about being more effective. And if you need to be more effective, that's why people hire us because we have the business skills to keep you on track.
ROBIN
Yes. And I could talk about this with you all day, but I don't have all day. Have one minute and five seconds left, and I still haven't asked you. What should I have asked you today that I didn't, Christine? And your answer, please.
08:15 CHRISTINE – Bonus Material
I think the thing that you should ask that you didn't is how do you stay simple?
How do you live this? Because the theory is good, but how do we live it? And I will tell you it is about scheduling your day to get the big rocks done first.
Where's your money? Where's your offers? Where's your focus today to find the strangers? And you need to do that before you get into social media, before you get into your email. Do the big rocks first because that is how, if it all goes pear shaped, you don't run out of time.
You do the things that matter and everything else is a luxury and treat it as such. So build your systems.
What do you do for the first two hours of every day matters. If you do two hours effectively, it doesn't matter if you work eight.
ROBIN
Yes. And the effective thing to do in those two hours is actual business building steps, talking to people, looking for sales, whatever your strategy is for doing that. Not building your website, answering your emails. Well you can answer emails if they're a sales email, but you know if after the first couple of hours you don't get any other work done other than you've actually been following whatever system you have for building your business, that is a worthwhile couple of hours and not a wasted day. Is that what you're saying?
CHRISTINE
One hundred percent and too many people say I can't find the time. I said You have to control your time, schedule your time and respect your time because I don't want to work one hundred million hours. My clients don't. And we're really winning in the current marketplace because we're effective in the hours we're working.
ROBIN
Yeah, brilliant. All right. Well, I have to move on reluctantly because we're nearly at the end. But before you go, I just need to ask you please, how can people reach you, Christine?
And also, is there like a valuable free resource they can get from you? And I always say it's a bit of a cheeky question, but it's not really because I think sometimes people are not quite ready to make the direct connection. They just want to get a little bit of a taste of what you do. And most business people have a little valuable free resource so that they can get a more of a flavor of it, then they'll approach you because they think, Oh, this is really good.
And I think they would with you, but it goes without saying.
10:35 CHRISTINE – Valuable Free Resource (VFR)
Thank you. So simple answer, and watch how simple this is. Okay, guys, my name is Christine Campbell Rapin, R a p I n. I want you to come find me on christinecampbellrapin.com or on any social media under my name. Really simple. And what I want you to know, because you're thinking and listening to me, so how do I find these buyers?
How do I find buyers? Because you said to me, Christine, my business will be built on strangers. I have a great free resource for you, which has twenty five ways right now for you to find your next buyer.
Here's my caveat, though. You go to christinecampbellrapin.com. It's right on the homepage. You can download this resource, twenty five Ways to Attract and Identify Your Next Buyer. I do not want you doing twenty five things.
I want you reading through these and saying, This is the one thing of twenty five that I like, that feels like oxygen, that I could sustain and I will hold myself accountable for, and then go get great at it. Pick your lane. Win in the marketplace.
ROBIN
Yeah fantastic! And if I could just say also the other trap that people fall into, and I know someone personally that does this very well, pointing at myself for people that can't see me on video, is the twenty five things… you can't remember them all anyway.
Not only do you become a jack of all trades and master of numbers, there's no way you're going to remember what you were doing.
Whereas if you specialize in just one thing and master that, then you can go and specialize in something else.
CHRISTINE
Yeah. But never more than two or three. Even businesses that are in the multimillion dollar level, you still need to keep it simple. And it is intentional because the world is trying to sell you complexity. Don't buy in.
You can admire the shiny.
Doesn't mean you have to have it all.
ROBIN
What's that old acronym?
K.I.S.S? Keep it simple, stupid.
CHRISTINE
It's simple, stupid.
ROBIN
Yes.
Haven't thought about that for years.
CHRISTINE
Simple with scales, simple is what you can duplicate, and simple truly is an art that you can
ROBIN
Yes. And that has been an artful and a masterful class that you've given us today, Christine. I’m so grateful to you. You've reminded me of a lot of very sane lessons, which are so easy to forget. And also you've brought a level of expertise to it, which is what we all need. So thank you so much for being on GoalBusters today.
CHRISTINE
My pleasure. Thanks for having me.
ROBIN
You're very welcome. And remember, everybody, keep GoalBusting. Make your future self proud. Bye bye.
