00:22 ROBIN
Well, hello everyone. My name is Robin J. Emdon and I'm an accountability coach and the author of Get Resultsology® - The Science of Getting Stuff Done! I work with people who run their own business, no boss, distractions everywhere and never enough hours in the day.
Together we cut through the noise, sharpen their focus and follow through on the big ideas that actually move the needle. That's what I call the momentum formula.
Do it today, profit tomorrow and repeat!
So if that's the kind of breakthrough that you are looking for, then you're in exactly the right place.
And speaking of being in exactly the right place, I am delighted to welcome our guest expert today, Meg Rentschler.
Meg hosts the weekly Star Coach Show and transforms how coaches and leaders flourish in their work. Drawing from twenty plus years as a psychotherapist before her transition to coaching in two thousand and eight, she helps business leaders promote health and well-being across their organizations.
Believing that the world needs more of what coaching brings to create more meaningful connection. Meg has taught and mentored over two thousand coaches. In her mentor programs and member community, those coaches strengthen their skills and confidence while building thriving businesses.
Meg, welcome to GoalBusters!
MEG
Robin, thank you for having me. I'm delighted to be here.
ROBIN
I'm delighted you're here too. And whereabouts in the world are you, Meg?
MEG
I am in Texas in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex.
ROBIN
Oh, fantastic. An area I know really well. No. I don't I have been there once for about three days, and I don't know it at all, but I do know roughly where you are in the world. I could put a pin in a map, and I would only miss it by about five hundred miles, which is pretty good for me. Alright.
MEG
Which is for the globe.
That's pretty good, Robin.
ROBIN
Yeah. That's pretty good.
Think about the whole globe. Five hundred is pretty good.
Yes. It is. Yeah. For me and it's really good for me actually to get that close. Alright. I'm waffling on. Shall we do the questions instead of listening to me?
MEG
Well, perhaps we should go there.
Yeah.
ROBIN
Alright. I'll put the clock up on the screen.
And there it goes. Meg, could you tell me, please, who is your ideal client?
02:50 MEG – Ideal Client
Well, Rob and I actually work with two distinct populations, executives who want to increase their impact and empower their teams, and new coaches who are excited to bring their coaching into the world, but they're not sure how to make that happen. So for today, I decided that we would concentrate on that second group, those passionate new coaches who really want to find a road back to succeed.
And the reason why I picked them is I think lots of people in the audience have probably wanted to do a transition, but they just weren't sure how to succeed.
ROBIN
Excellent. Thank you. That's very clear. And so what exactly is the… I mean, you've already mentioned alluded to it, but what is the problem or problems that you solve? I imagine you solve more than one.
03:30 MEG – Problem Solved
I try. And, actually, my clients solve those for themselves, but I partner with them to do that. So I transform new coaches from that overwhelmed clientless state that that we can be in when we start something new to being confident and clear and being able to thrive both in their skills and in their confidence and how they're putting themselves out there so that they get their ideal clients. Because most new clients are really stuck in that place of, what do I do with it? Empty calendars. So if they really wanna help people and they're drowning in all the details, they can't get there, and I wanna help them bridge that gap.
ROBIN
Perfect. I love that. So, and I'm gonna move swiftly onto the third question because it beautifully follows it. What is one valuable free action that the audience can implement that will help them to solve that problem? As you say, they do it themselves.
04:30 MEG – Valuable Free Action (VFA)
Yeah. You do it them so it really starts with getting really clear on your own foundation, taking the time to identify what are your passions, what are your drives, what are your goals, If you don't take the time to do that for yourself, other people will put theirs on you, and you are following their roadmap instead of your own. So once you get clear about those, really practice speaking them with confidence, unapologetically.
Own those things. And when you're really grounded in who you are and what you stand for, you'll naturally attract those people to you who wanna work with you, who understand what you are offering and are magnetically drawn to that. Fuzzy mind, fuzzy confusion doesn't attract anybody, but crystal clear clarity and getting that message out with confidence, that's where you wanna start with your own clarity.
ROBIN
Wow. Thank you. Very comprehensive answer. I love it. Absolutely fantastic advice there. Thank you so much, Meg.
Alright. So now we have a better understanding and not a complete understanding that would be impossible in two minutes, but a better understanding of what you do. Let's dive into GoalBusting, which is focusing on something that a lot of coaches do, which is how focusing on how to maximize productive time to achieve business goals, funnily enough. So could you share any tips or advice for someone looking to improve their productivity habits?
06:05 MEG – Valuable Productive Action (VPA)
Thank you for asking. So I'm gonna actually share three quick simple things to implement.
First of all, write down those goals every single day. Every single day, take the time to just journal those goals. It brings them to the front of your mind. It keeps them from beginning push to the back and other people's goals taking precedent over your own.
So write them down every day and keep them front and centre, and then prioritize what are two or three things that I can do today, to get me closer, either to one of those goals or to a couple things, but you gotta work on something every single day. And other people will give you things to do, but what is your priority for that day? Focus on two to three things that you really know will move the needle for you.
And then finally, let go of perfectionism. It's not about perfect. It's about done.
It's about giving it your best shot because until we get things into the world anyway, we don't know what really resonates.
We don't even know what resonates with ourselves. So we've got to get it out there, experiment with it, let go of perfectionism, and just settle into that I've got it done, and then I'm gonna learn from it and move forward.
ROBIN
Yeah. Absolutely. Brilliant. Three for the price of one as well. Aren't we lucky? I feel extra privileged today.
I'm gonna have to boost this podcast as a extra value one. I can see that. Thank you so much. Brilliant tips as well.
I love it. Alright. So for our final question, and I always love this question because I never know what's gonna come up.
Could you share with us, please, what should I have asked you today that I didn't? And your answer, please, Meg.
07:50 MEG – Bonus Material
So I thought about this hard, and I thought what do I love about coaching?
I used to be a psychotherapist. I transitioned into coaching. So what is it that I love about coaching?
Well, Robin, I'm glad you asked. What I love about coaching is that I believe we're all here on the earth to do the heavy lifting together.
And if we're all about division and separateness, it's really difficult to do that. One of the things that I believe coaching brings forward beautifully when done well is curiosity.
Curiosity about the other person, curiosity about what's important, curiosity about ourselves and others. And when we can lean into inquiry and really being genuinely wondering about other people, what's important to them, what they're bringing to the table. Well, then we begin to understand other people's unique gifts and values and talents.
Then we can come together. We're not all gonna be exactly alike. We're not thank goodness. Wouldn't that be boring?
But if in fact, we can focus on what connects us rather than what separates us and really figuring out how we can work together towards a greater good. Now I get that we all have different visions of what that greater good is. I would really hope that we can land on some things that just make common sense. I get sometimes even that seems like a heavy stretch.
But what I love about coaching is that it is about connection. It is about curiosity. It is about hoping that everybody can find their thing and lift it up so that we can all do better together.
ROBIN
Fantastic. I love that. The perfect question as well, I think, to ask, and you answered it beautifully as well. And I was as I was listening there, I was reminded that one of the things that I'm passionate about with coaching too is that, you know, we're trained as coaches when you're with a client.
You enter their model of the world. You don't impose your model of the world on them. You enter theirs. And it becomes such a fascinating thing to see how other people think and what they do.
And you're in there partnering up with them and thinking, okay. How can I help you to make your model of the world work better for you? How can I make it… how can I serve so that to do that? And it's always and you it's an endless variety comes up that you're just like, oh, okay. I didn't know you could think that way. Actually, that really works quite well. I like that. You know?
MEG
Exactly. So if we're so married to that, we're the only ones that have the answers, what are we missing out on?
ROBIN
Yes.
MEG
So much Yes. Brilliance Yes. That we just need to be open to.
ROBIN
Absolutely. And speaking of brilliance and being open to that beautifully segues into my final question, which is not one of the five that I always ask you at this point, which is how can people reach you, Meg? And also is there like a valuable free resource they could get from you? And as I often say, I always say, actually I know it's a cheeky question but actually it's a serious question. It's a way that people can reach you and get a taste or even more of what you do and get a feel for your offer and the kind of services that they can get from you.
11:00 MEG – Valuable Free Resource (VFR)
Well, thank you for that. I would say that the best way to learn more about me is at starcoachshow.com.
That is gonna have all four hundred and fifty of my episodes out for people to access. It also tells you about me and how to connect with me. And based upon our topic today, I thought that the best gift to offer everyone was a a workbook, called seven steps to clarity and triumph.
It's a it gives you some exercises to lean into about what is your clarity.
And when you get that program really can move into triumph, whether you're a coach, whether you're a business owner, whether you're a stay at home mom, whatever we all have, all those things are important roles in the world, and we, and clarity will help you settle into who you wanna be and how you wanna show up. So that's what the guide does.

ROBIN
That's brilliant. Thank you so much. Meg, it's been an absolute pleasure. Thank you. This sounds like a brilliant thing things that you're sharing there.
And what you brought to the call today, you mentioned very early on that you that you that you're talking about coaches and they how they get find their passion. And it's very clear watching you today that you're very experienced at this, but the and the passion is still there. And it probably… I'd bet I would guess stronger than ever. I absolutely loved it.
I loved listening to you. I could feel the passion coming through the screen down the broadband all the way from Fort Worth, Texas to here in Devon in England.
MEG
Love it. Robin, it's been such a joy to spend time with you. Thanks for having me on your beautiful show.
