Alicia, welcome to GoalBusters!

ALICIA
Thank you for having me. I'm so excited to be here.

ROBIN
I'm excited to have you here too. I'm really looking forward to hearing more about what you do. I've already mentioned, Alicia, that you're in Southern California. What part of Southern California are you in?

ALICIA
So I am north of San Diego and east of LA. So I'm in the Inland Empire area, the Temecula, Marietta area.

ROBIN
That's fantastic. I've been to San Diego and LA, so I kind of know a little bit about where you are, though it's a very big place. So I probably haven't been to where you are exactly.

ALICIA
Yes.

ROBIN
Alright. Should we get on with the questions?

ALICIA
I'm ready.

ROBIN
Alright. Let's start the clock.

And there it goes. Alicia, let's talk about what you do. So who is, please, your ideal client?

02:35 ALICIA – Ideal Client
My ideal clients are founders, business owners, and consultants that are ready to get online and get visible on video.

ROBIN
Perfect. Very succinct to the point. Completely get where you're coming from on that. Excellent. Thank you. So what is the problem or problems that you solve?

03:00 ALICIA – Problem Solved
So I help these ideal clients build their personal brands with video, whether it's on, LinkedIn.

We come in and we help them get seen, get visible so that way they can make more money, they can get funding for their businesses, they can be seen as a thought leader. That's what we do. So we help them start off real slow, build their camera confidence. We help them be seen as an expert and not give a lot of how to videos, but a lot of thought leadership so that when someone is looking for their services, they remember them by the videos they put out.

ROBIN
Wow. I've suddenly become very video conscious as you were saying that. I'm thinking, oh my god. That's what Alicia does.

Okay. That's perfect. Thank you. So what is one valuable free action that our audience can implement that will help them to solve that problem or problems?

04:00 ALICIA – Valuable Free Action (VFA)
So one action that you could take is by starting small when it comes to video.

A lot of people think you need to have long winded videos to be seen as an expert, but you really don't. You can have a thirty second video or a video that's ninety seconds up to two minutes that really establishes you as an expert and really gets you to be seen. Now you don't have to share a lot of how to content, and I'm really kind of anti how to content, but you really wanna talk about the things that your idle clients struggle with and what they can do to alleviate that before they come to work with you. But starting off small with simple videos, I like to call them quickies, Quickies.

Having quickie videos really help you to establish who you are, build that trust and authority. So that way you can be seen as a person for those services. So start off small. Don't think about having a five minute or a ten minute video.

Just really think about short bits of content that will help them to really digest it and remember it. That way, they can go down the rabbit hole of your content library and really, get to know you and trust you with that.

ROBIN
Fantastic. Thank you. And I know you're coming at it from a slightly different angle, but just from the technical angle, it takes a long time to produce even two minutes of video to do it well. There's a lot of work, especially if you're learning how to do it for the first time.

ALICIA
Yes. It does take a lot and that's why when we work with our clients, we take that technical aspect out of that for them. So we really say, hey. You come to us.

You trust us. This is what you're gonna get. You're gonna get your script. And I really don't like scripts, so we're gonna tell you what to say.
I'm gonna tell you how to say it on camera, then we're gonna take that video, and we're gonna do the technical stuff for you. We're gonna edit it for you. We're gonna put it out there and show it to you so it says it's on brand. It's positioning you as the expert, and then you get it out there and you say, hey guys, here's what I have.

And then people come to see you because they're gonna say, hey, she's talking about he or she is talking about something that I like, that I struggle with, and I need help with this. And so I don't wanna do this for myself. I want them to come help me. I want them to solve this problem for me.

So we solve the problem of you trying to figure out what to say of you putting the editing and getting all the things. We walk you through all those steps. We help you while you're recording, and then we take all that, put it together in a nice bow, and we say, hey. Get it out to the masses.

ROBIN
I love the nice bow touch at the end. And that's actually huge what you've just said. Really huge. And I'll elaborate on that in a little while, but I don't wanna take up too much of your seven minutes. So now we know a little bit more about what you do. Let's talk about GoalBusting, meaning how do you make the best use of your productive time to achieve your own business goals. So, Alicia, can you share any tips or advice for someone looking to improve their productivity habits?

06:50 ALICIA – Valuable Productive Action (VPA)
Well, I'm not gonna say have the to do list and have the top three even though I do have a planner and I do have that. But I will say to do everything in, like, small little bite sized things. That way you can be productive Instead of taking on, like, this huge project, do little bite sized things. That's what helped me over the years be productive in my own business is that, you know, if I give myself twenty minutes to get something done, and I do that in that twenty minutes, and then I move on.

That way, I'm not overwhelmed, and then I start scrolling on my phone or playing around, get up and watch TV or get a meal. If I can get stuff done in bite size, then I feel that I'm accomplished. So that's one productivity goal for me is just… if I'm gonna have a plan, try to get it done in a small, set of time. And then I can always come back if I didn't finish it all.

But at least I know in my mind I've accomplished something.

ROBIN
Yeah. Especially also in in the in the world that you're in the videos. There are so many moving parts. And I guess one way I could think about it is like as a jigsaw puzzle.

And you're just doing one jigsaw puzzle piece at a time. If you try and do the whole lot, it'll overwhelm you. But just one piece at a time, put in the right place, then you got time to do something else.

ALICIA
Yeah.

ROBIN
Perfect. Alright. So that's great. A really, really solid advice tip there. Thank you so much.

So, Alicia, finally, one question. What should I have asked you today that I didn't? And what would your answer be, please?

08:20 ALICIA – Bonus Material
The question that you should have asked me was why video's important for anyone who has a business, even for solopreneurs.

And my answer would be video is the fastest way to get seen as the expert to build that know, like, and trust and to get your services and products out there. Because we all know on social media, however you find someone, a lot of times, the way they grasp your attention is by video. And video is the way to get anyone's attention. So you want to stop a scroll immediately, and you want someone to pay attention to you. And how you do that is with video. Yes. You can do that with a picture, and you can do that with a carousel post, but the content that is most memorable are the videos that you produce.

People can see you. They can say, hey. I like this person. No. I don't like their voice. Yes. I like their voice. And they continue to listen to what you're saying, and then they say, hey. That's solid advice or that wasn't for me.

So they can make that decision quickly, and it also cuts down the customer journey process of them making a decision of whether or not they wanna work with you. So that's what I would have asked.

ROBIN
Yeah. I should have asked that for sure. That's absolutely…

No. You're absolutely right. I definitely should have asked that. And it bring brings me back to what I was gonna say, which was, you know, in terms of what you the service that you offer. When I was starting out on my journey with what I'm doing myself, I decided to do some little YouTube videos of like five or ten minutes each. And I thought, oh, I'll knock them out in, you know, couple of days. I did eight videos.
I estimated it would take me eight or nine days. And you know, as well as I do, what I'm gonna say, it took me eight weeks!

ALICIA
Oh, yes. It is.

ROBIN
You know? Yeah. I didn't have an Alicia helping me. I did everything myself. So what you do is huge as far as I'm concerned…

It's like, where do I sign up? I'm really interested.

So Yeah. I understand.

ALICIA
It's a lot.

ROBIN
It's a lot. It's a lot to take on. And speaking of which, how can people reach you? And also, do you have, like, a Valuable Free Resource they could get from you by a little taster of what you do? But really also, you know, how can they reach you? Because I think they need to. I know I do.

10:35 ALICIA – Valuable Free Resource (VFR)
So you can reach me on LinkedIn. Just go to Alicia Henderson biz. Just use that as the, after you go to LinkedIn, just type my name in. You'll see me there. And my resource is, a live stream or a video success toolkit. And you can go to https://aliciahenderson.biz/livestream-resource-guide/ and then you can see it there.

ROBIN
Perfect. And we will put a link to that on the video and in the text that accompanies the podcast as well so people won't have any problem finding you now. Alicia, that's been wonderful. Thank you so much. I have learned so much about what you do and I've realized just how much actually that you do for your clients just from the little time we spent together today. That's huge actually. It's huge. Huge time saver and add and just on the practical side, but on the advice side, priceless.

ALICIA
Yes. Yes. Like I said, video is very helpful, but when you don't have a strategy and you don't know what to do, it can be overwhelming. And I can see why it would take eight weeks because there wasn't a process. But with the process, I mean, it's smooth sailing after you get it down.

ROBIN
Absolutely. Overwhelm city right here. Yeah. Perfect.

Alicia Henderson, thank you so much for giving us your time and your pearls of wisdom today. It's been an absolute honour and a pleasure.

ALICIA
Well, thank you. I appreciate it.

ROBIN
Thank you, and bye bye.
