Brianca empowers entrepreneurs to achieve visibility, affinity, and revenue through no fluff strategies that go beyond the bottom line to drive meaningful change.

Brianca, welcome!

BRIANCA
Thank you so much for having me. I'm really excited.

Yes. I'm really looking forward to this actually. You're very welcome. Whereabouts in the world are you?

BRIANCA
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia.

ROBIN
Atlanta, Georgia. So you're about five hours behind me, and we've already established you're still able to drink coffee. It's afternoon for me, and I've had to stop or I'll be up all night. So I'm quite envious that I see you had a coffee there before we got going.

BRIANCA
Thank you.

ROBIN
So talking to getting going, shall we make a start? Should we start the clock and start with the five questions in seven minutes?

BRIANCA
Yes. I'm ready.

ROBIN
Okay. Well, let's start the clock.

And there it goes. Brianca, if you could, could you tell us please who is your ideal client?

02:20 BRIANCA – Ideal Client
So I work with, women who are leaders in corporate. They might be executives. They might be managers in their role, and they are looking to take their corporate expertise and package it into a coaching or a consulting offer. A lot of the women that I work with are actually more focused on consulting than on coaching.

But I also work with organizations who have larger sales teams, and they want to teach their sales teams how to leverage a personal brand in order to, like, build a rapport with their customers. And I work with universities to teach their students how to leverage their personal brand in the digital era. So I work with a a wide, array of people, but mainly with the focus of personal branding.

ROBIN
That's brilliant. And there's quite a variety there. A lot of variety in your work there. So question two is kind of a difficult question, really, because it says, what is the problem you solve? But I imagine you solve quite a few. So where's your focus, really?

03:24 BRIANCA – Problem Solved
Mhmm. So overall, my business, the problem that we solve is that pretty much everybody in the world in the digital era has a personal brand, and your personal brand can be leveraged in a multitude of ways. It could be leveraged to start and launch a business, i.e. entrepreneurs.

It can be leveraged to advance your career, like climb the corporate ladder, so students who are entering the workforce, and it can be leveraged to build rapport with clients.

And so I basically help whoever my client is at that time think about, like, what their personal brand is, what their mission, their vision, their values are, and how we align that personal brand to achieve whatever their goal is. And then once we have established that, we build marketing systems and strategies on the back end to take that personal brand and elevate it.
ROBIN
That's fantastic and incredibly valuable work. Thank you for sharing that with us. Thank you. So, what question three. What is one valuable free action that the audience could implement that will help them solve the types of problems that you're talking about?

04:30 BRIANCA – Valuable Free Action (VFA)
Yeah. So the number one thing that I tell all of my clients is that there are so many unique experiences and, things that we've learned, things that we have acquired in our life and in our learning that is actually valuable to the people that we serve, whether it is the employers that we work for, the clients that we serve, or the customers that we support. And so the number one thing that you can do is, like, take a little time to think objectively about the results that you have delivered, both quantitatively and qualitatively.

How have you supported people? Is there a common process that you have used to support those people, and how could you replicate that process and make it more efficient to serve more people in a shorter time frame?

ROBIN
Thanks, Brianca. That's a really nice distinction there. I really enjoyed that. Yeah. Thank you. That's very useful.

Alright. So now we know a little bit more about what you do. Let's talk about GoalBusting, the title of the podcast, meaning how do you make the best use of your own productive time, Brianca, to achieve your own business goals? So the question is, can you share any tips or advice for someone looking to improve their productivity habits, please?

05:40 BRIANCA – Valuable Productive Action (VPA)
Yes. So I use the Pomodoro method. So I have a little clock here that I got from Amazon. And, basically, what I do is I work in sprints. So every day, I have two, working blocks on my calendar for ninety minutes, and I break them up into two, thirty minute sprints, and then I do a fifteen minute break in between. So, normally, what that means is, like, in a day, I might get between three and four tasks accomplished.

I put those tasks on my Google Calendar. They're assigned into those work blocks, and then I use the Pomodoro method to keep myself on track.

ROBIN
Thank you so much. You're the first person I've ever heard mention that in answer to this particular question. I have a big section of my book dedicated to the Pomodoro technique. I totally agree with you. I call them, when I sit down… how many Poms do I want to do today?

BRIANCA
Yes. I like that. Yeah.

ROBIN
How many Poms? I've only done six Poms I need to do six more.

BRIANCA
I like that. I'm going to start calling them Poms now.

ROBIN
Poms. Yeah. I think that's what the Australians call us Brits. So there you go. That's even better.

Okay. Perfect. Yeah. I totally agree with you. Wonderful technique. Really, really valuable. Okay. And one of the other distinctions I make with it is also if you do set yourself a target like you do of how many you're gonna do each day, you can always if things happen and you have to reschedule, you say, you know what? I've got two Poms left to do today, and I'm not going to bed until I've done them. You know? And that that's quite a brilliant mindset to get into.

BRIANCA
Exactly. And I like it because it's less focused on, you know, like, a checklist and more focused on, like, how you're using your time and being reasonable about what you can accomplish with your time. And I just think that overall, that makes for a much healthier mindset.

ROBIN

Absolutely. Including, you know, anybody can focus for twenty five, thirty minutes at a time. But the idea of, oh, I've gotta focus all morning, you're gonna need a much bigger mug of coffee than I know you've got hidden from the camera today, a much bigger one, like a gallon of coffee. Just the thinking about that.

Alright.

BRIANCA
Exactly. And my last thing I'll say is you don't wanna look at your screen for that long anyway. So taking that break is actually really beneficial for your eyes.

ROBIN
Definitely. Very true. Beneficial for everything. And I'm using up your time, and I don't wanna do that, but I've done it anyway. But never mind. We can overrun. I hope our audience won't mind because this is really good stuff.

So what should I have asked you today, Brianca, that I didn't and your answer, please?

08:00 BRIANCA – Bonus Material
Yeah. So I wish that you would have asked me, how can people leverage a personal brand if they don't want to run a business?

Or if they don't want to climb the corporate ladder, how do they leverage their personal brand? And do they even have one?

ROBIN
Right. And what would the answer be?

BRIANCA
Everybody has a personal brand.

ROBIN
Right. Exactly.

BRIANCA
Think of your personal brand as your reputation, you can think of how you would leverage it by the relationships that you would build, how you would network, opportunities that you may go after in organizations that you're a part of and that you serve, how you would use it to, you know, facilitate deeper relationships or with your hobbies, with organizations that you're a part of. So all these things help you to kind of create a more well-rounded idea of, like, this is the ultimate mission and vision that I have for my life, and these are the things that I'm doing to work towards it. And this is how I wanna be perceived as I am working towards this greater mission, vision, and perceived as I am working towards this greater mission, vision, and values.

ROBIN
Yeah. That's brilliant. And such a valuable point that you're making. That is a good question that I didn't ask, and I like your answer too. I mean, it's highly topical because we live in the age where personal brand is, you know, exactly what we all have.

You know, before the age of the Internet, either it was really difficult if you had a personal brand. You were you were either a celebrity or you just weren't. You know, you had to find… But now anybody can set one up literally by having a social media channel or some description or another, and they can go for it, can't they? And they can start there.

BRIANCA
Mhmm.

ROBIN
Or they can go into business and see it as the way to build their business and or both.

BRIANCA
I would actually argue to say that even before the digital era, we all have personal brands because have you ever heard the saying your word is your bond?

ROBIN
Yes. Absolutely.

BRIANCA
The saying your word is your bond is an indication that, you know, that was them setting up their reputation, setting up their personal brand. And although it was within a smaller community because there was no Internet, it still was the essence of who they are and how they wanted to be perceived in their reputation.

And the difference now is that we're taking that same kind of thought, that same kind of intentionality, and we are spreading it to a larger group of people because we do have the Internet, and we have social media, and we have email marketing. But we're taking that essence of what we believe in, our values, how we want to be known, how we want to be perceived, and now we're communicating it in all of our interactions, in our social media posts, in the way that we respond to people, in the way that we engage with people, in the jobs that we go after, in the jobs that we don't go after, and it's all working together. And when you know how you want to be perceived, when you know what you want to stand for, it makes that process so much easier.

ROBIN
Yeah. Brilliant. I'm gonna take that answer and bottle it because I thought that was a very succinct and brilliant way of explaining personal branding. Thank you very much, Brianca.

Thank you so much. So how can people reach you, Brianca? And, also, it's always a cheeky question, but I always ask it. Is there a nice valuable free resource they could get from you when they reach you as well, please?

11:15 BRIANCA – Valuable Free Resource (VFR)
Of course. So they can reach me on all social media. I am TheBriancaJohnson.

On all social media, my website is also briancajohnson.com. And I have a free guide and a free, custom gpchatGPT called make them remember you, and it's basically a series of questions that will help you craft a memorable brand message. So if you're struggling to think about this is how I wanna be perceived or this is what I wanna be known for, this is what my value is, and this is how I wanna communicate it, this resource will make that plain for you in a matter of minutes.

ROBIN
Brilliant. I'm gonna get that right after you hang up. I love that. That's really useful. And just for clarity, because I was a tad confused at the beginning, Brianca Johnson is your original name. Brianca Kirkham, as I've introduced you and is actually will be on the is on the screen, Is your married name? Because you recently got married, I believe.

BRIANCA
Correct!

ROBIN

Congratulations for that

BRIANCA
Thank you.

ROBIN
As well. And I wish you all the best for that.

Brianca, that's been brilliant.

Absolutely wonderful. So much information that I really meant to… I said, like, you'll be especially your answers to all of the questions were great, and I love that dialogue at the end about personal branding. I really think you should bottle that and put it into a PDF or something.

BRIANCA
Thank you. I will.

ROBIN
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The copyright, Brianca. Yeah. I can't use it. Oh, well. I tried.

BRIANCA
Thank you.

ROBIN
Brianca, thank you so much. It's been a pleasure.

BRIANCA
Thank you. Thank you for having me.

ROBIN
Thank you, and bye bye. Bye.
